Fall Flower Art

Fall is just around the corner and gardens everywhere are full of flowers in need of deadheading and maintenance. Why not make your garden waste into a creative art activity for your kids? Making creature art out of flower petals and leaves is a great way to get those creative juices flowing and there are endless possibilities of things you can make.

The only thing you need to do this activity is a bunch of flower petals and/or leaves and a clean surface (we used a big piece of paper that we taped to the table). If you don't have a garden at home you can easily pick up some inexpensive flowers at the market, or perhaps even asking your local flower shop if they have any floral waste you could have. Once you have collected your floral supplies, you can carefully take the petals off and organize them in to little piles to make it easier to work with.

If you have trouble deciding what type of critter to make, you can always grab a book on different types of animals to give some inspiration. This project is really just about creative expression and being able to explore and have fun. You never know what you will come up with!
